 Free dance classes in Southwest!
© Irish Philadelphia Photo Essays

Laura Saunders and Joaquin Byrd, two teachers of Southwest High School have started conducting dance classes for their students. Saunders, who has studied ballet for 20 years teamed up with fellow colleague, Byrd, a hip-hop fan to create the Dévant Dance class Team or DDT. Both teachers devote some part of the day to their 'troupe' which rehearses for 2 hours every day.

They don't charge money for these dance classes. The admission fee ($5) is channeled to a scholarship for students to buy college books. Byrd, who had helped a friend before in setting up a dance class cum troupe, had no problems in starting from scratch with Saunders.

The students who attend these dance classes have only praises to shower on their gurus. They say it's awesome to have someone who is not only your teacher with a right attitude but a companion as well.
These dance classes have fulfilled dreams of those aspiring dancers who cannot afford to take professional dance sessions.
